Buchlyvie 10k 2019

By Ewan Smith

As I've written about this race a couple of times before and you're all probably saying "Naw him on aboot Buchlyvie again" I'll keep it brief. It's an out and back course, mostly on a forestry roads, this year it was chucking it doon and as always I came away less than satisfied with my running. As ever I went away too fast and as ever my pace faded in the second half and it wasn't all due to the wind either.

So why do I go back every year? Probably because it gives you a marker for the spring. 40:13 is nothing to shout about but it's about what I expected, given the conditions and the fact that I'm carry 3/4 a stone more than in the summer. Its also actually faster than I've run it for a few years. It's not a pb race but it attracts a loyal following so you also get to compare yourself with runners who you've met on the same course before.

I'm happy enough with 19th place but less happy with the fact that there were 2 other old flas aheid of me. So for the next few weeks and months there will be more running and fewer sweeties.
