Balloch to Clydebank Half Marathon

The race where the race got in the way....well that's how it felt for me anyway! A jolly boys outing to Balloch on Sunday 13th March was just the tonic to finish off this surge of races I've been doing recently over the last few weeks. An early start travelling up to Balloch with messrs O'May, McDonald and Reid for a race that started at 9am....not the best preparation for any run but some tremendous craic from the lads on the journey up helped blow away the cob webs of an early start. Not one mention of the race on the journey up suggested the lack of focus (or sheer confidence!) with more anticipation for the boys to have their first post race pint(s)!

When we arrived we met up with Stephen Blackstock, James McEachran and Robert Semple....a few hardy, bold boys who are regulars to this event and managed to get a few snaps before the start, just to prove we were all there!

I'm Kayser Soze!

A quick 20 yard stride out for a warm up and the boys were ready!

There were 386 competitors racing the event this year, which is a huge turnout. Conditions were ideal with a bit of sunshine and not too much wind. There were a few 'rogueflas' appearing at this race so it was always going to be competitive for the leaders. Not anything we had to worry about anyway and we had plenty runners our own abilities about to push us on.

There was some excellent runs with myself, Stephen and James getting PB's. Below are the timings:

Stuart McGeachy - 01:17:19 (17th)

Stephen Blackstock - 01:36:10 (157th)

Allan Reid - 01:35:28 (150th)

Robert McDonald - 01:38:01 (173rd)

James McEachran - 01:39:03 (185th)

Alisdair O'May - 01:41:33 (215th)

Robert Semple - 01:51:23 (289th)

A good day oot!
