Budapest Marathon Results

Budapest was the destination for this years club trip with five CRC members making the 3 hour flight across to Hungary. There were three different races on offer to choose from, which were the marathon, a 30K run (approx 18 miles) and a 10K. John Burridge and Elaine McGeachy took on the challenge of the marathon, both no strangers to the distance. Sarah McFadzean and Margaret Sinclair decided to go for the 30K challenge after recently completing the Islay marathon, and Stuart McGeachy entered the 10K after competing in a number of similar distance events recently.

The weather had been forecast for heavy rain and strong winds, but thankfully the rain held out until later in the day after the races concluded. There was still some tough head winds in certain sections of the route, but nothing compared what we're used to in Kintyre!

The marathon and 30K route took in most of the major tourist sites of Budapest and was a great way of taking in the city. It's definitely one of the most scenic races you'll run anywhere in the world as the city has some amazing architecture and views.

Post race drink on a booze cruise! Unfortunately John missed this due to post race illness...something we all felt 12 hours after this pic!

Well done to everyone raced in Budapest over the weekend. Below is a list of the results and timings:
