On February 25th the Glentress Trail Races took place, highterrainevents had organised a 10K, 21K half and 42K marathon on the forest trails.

Sarah and Alix entered the 21K which incorporated sections of the Tower Trail & the Black graded mtb route, climbing high to the top of

Glentress Forest, offering some fine viewpoints with a total ascent of 750m/2,460 ft. Margaret was doing the 10K which explored the forest

using some of the waymarked forest trails and with 330m/1083 ft of elevation saw spectacular views over the Tweed Valley & the Caddon

Hills.

The weather on the day was fine, it had been very wet over night and snow covered previously so underfoot conditions were very wet and

muddy, with freezing slush and water in parts. Both the 10K and the 21k incorporated a combination of woodland singletrack, forest trails,

forest roads & sections of the black graded mtb trail. All three ladies thoroughly enjoyed the experience of a proper trail race, mixing with

seasoned trail runners we all finished happy with our performance and keen to enter more of the same.

Margaret won the prize for first V60 female. Sarah has entered the Tweed Valley Ultra (65K) in November which takes in some of the same sections of the course and Alix is looking at other trail races to take part in.
