Arran Relay

The annual jolly boys outing (aka the Round Arran Relay) took place on Saturday 25th July with CRC sending out a strong male team to represent the club. The initial team was Kenny Campbell, Graham Crawford, Stuart McGeachy, Alan Reid, Daniel Sheldrick and James Murdoch. However a couple of late call off's to Graham Crawford and Kenny Campbell meant a few ringers by the names of Ewan Smith and Will Bowman being drafted to replace these fine men....not bad replacements.

For those unfamiliar of the setup on the race, six runners from each team complete sections varying between 8 and 11 miles of the 56 mile course around the Island. All routes have their charms with some tough uphill and downhill sections. All runners were taken in buses to their start locations around the island and taken back to Brodick once the races were completed.

The weather was ideal with some sunshine and a slight northerly wind to cool off runners. There were some impressive times and places for the team against some tough opposition.

Below are the results and standing for each CRC member:

A great effort from the team and finishing fourth out of 31 teams topped a great day. Hopefully next year we can send a few more teams over as a great day out.
