On Saturday 25th June Margaret Sinclair from CRC and Kenny Ralston from the toon ran The Barrathon half marathon on the island of Barra. This was their 2nd run in the HEB3 Challenge. Starting in Castlebay the circular route of the island had very few flat sections between the hills but there were two good down hills as well. The killer mile came at mile 11 it was steep and long but did go back down again. Then with the end in sight there was another very cruel steep but short hill.

Lots of support along the way with water every 2 miles. A bit of a head wind at the start for a while but really perfect running conditions. Margaret finished in 2.07 and Kenny was 1.46. The first man was 1.19 and the first female 1.36, 233 entrants. There was soup and bread at the end of the run and then a massive buffet when everyone had come in with the prize giving, finishing with a family ceilidh, music by the Vatersay Boys.

It was good to see a few familiar faces (including Father Roddy!) from other races with a few saying they wanted to do MOK next year. Will be doing Barrathon next year.
