The British Miler Clubs club regional 3000m track race took place on Friday 1st of June at Scotstoun stadium in Glasgow. Drew Dutton, Stuart McGeachy and Jennifer Martin were making their debut outing at this distance hoping to secure some fast times. The race was held 5 days after MOK, so legs weren't exactly fresh each of them felt capable of pulling off a strong time under the watchful eye of "The Coach" Graham Crawford. It was a warm, muggy night which made it difficult, however they were thankful the thunder held off as had been forecast earlier in the week.

Jennifer's heat was one of the first with 15 other people in her mixed heat. Jennifer finished strong in 7th (5th female) with a time of 11:07, only 40 seconds off the wining male. It was an impressive run and time and fair to say pace was judged correctly, something "The coach" picked up on. Results like this show the massive improvements Jennifer has made in the last year on improving her speed on shorter races, which in turn will hopefully help for longer distance events as well.

Drew and Stuart were running in the same heat along with 22 other males. Graham advised not to go off to hard, and by the second lap both were trailing in the last two positions...maybe not go too hard but not too slow either lads! Thankfully they worked well together picking off runners as the laps went on knowing they had a bit left in the tank. By the final lap they were near the top end and Drew kicked away to finish an impressive 4th in 9:41. Stuart wasn't far behind in 6th position in a time of 9:44.

A great night and training event and would recommend to any runner looking to improve on their short game among similar paced runners.
