The Scottish Veteran Harriers Club hold an annual 5K road race in Clydebank each year, on a Wednesday evening at 7.30pm. Entries are taken on the night, at a cost of £2 for members of the club and £5 for guests. Registration was at the Clydebank Playdome. Being a Veteran Club, the majority of the entrants were veterans, although senior runners could also run as guests on the night.

The conditions were perfect; overcast, warm and, most importantly, no wind making it a change from CRC Handicap races!

The race route was three and a half laps of an industrial estate. Although it doesn't sound very inspiring, it was one of the best race

routes that I have ever ran, with great PB potential. It was totally flat, on a mostly traffic/pedestrian free route. I ran most of the race

on the road, rather than taking the slightly shorter route on the pavement. Doing laps of the industrial estate seemed to make the

distance pass quicker, compared to an out and back route.

With no pre-race time in mind, I was delighted to finish in a time of 20.03 (PB) and was placed 53rd out of a total of 75 runners.
