Post date: Apr 14, 2017 1:05:49 PM

The first ever Glen Scotia MOK marathon took place on Saturday 25th March 2017 with almost 100 runners competing in both the individual and team events. The race was the brainchild of Elaine McGeachy, who wanted to organise a marathon in our area but also show off the amazing scenery of Kintyre to visiting competitors. The route was challenging as it took in the areas around Southend and the Learside, so plenty of hills on offer! In addition, this area is known to be a tad blustery, which would add to the charm! Thankfully the weather was perfect as it was cool with sunshine and little wind...unheard of in this area!

CRC had were very successful again and picked up a lot of podium positions.

Stuart McGeachy was first in the marathon with a time of 3:06. Ewan Smith was second overall with in incredible time of 3:24, not bad for a super auldfla! Not far behind was Jennifer Martin who was first lady and third overall in 3:26. Stephen Blackstock finished as first Vet male in 3:50, Ralphy Hill was first male Super vet in 03:59 and Clare Reid was third female in 04:09.

The two team event was won my Matthew and Gary Turner in 2:57, and they were the first over the finish line.

The four team event was won by 'MorGeach Doc', which comprised of Elaine McGeachy, Emma Morran, Ian Docherty and Tommy Morran in 3:10.

CRC would like to thank all the competitors, marshals, sponsors, Raymond Hosie photography and any supporters who made the event as special as it was.
