The Bank of Scotland Great Scottish Run took place in Glasgow on Sunday 5th October 2014 with many club members taking part in the 10k and Half Marathon races. The race was awarded IAAF Gold Standard this year and attracted many elite runners including defending champion Haile Gebrselassie, Stephen Chemlany, Kilplagat, Susan Partridge as well as Mike Shelley the recent Commonwealth Marathon winner and was televised live on BBC2.

Unfortunately, Haile Gebrselassie pulled out just after 3 miles due to breathing difficulties, showing the rest of us mortals that it happens to the best of them. This left the race wide open for the other elites to battle it out, with Stephen Mokoka achieving a deserved 1st place in 61 minutes 25 seconds.

Running conditions were favourable being cool and dry albeit a little windy. However, the GSR routes were changed once again and notably more hilly but the welcome favourite of the Kingston Bridge returned for both routes. Starting in George Square straight into the first incline of St Vincent Street, down into Finnieston before turning a sharp left on to the bridge over the motorway past Shields Road. It was then for the hills of Pollok Park for half runners whilst 10k-ers went via Bellahouston Park, Paisley Road West, the Squinty Bridge (aka the Clyde Arc) before a flat 1.5 miles along the Broomielaw finishing in Glasgow Green. The atmosphere didn't fail to disappoint once again with the streets of Glasgow lined with spectators and well wishers.

Well done everyone who took part, below are the times recorded for Campbeltown Running Club members:
