Ikano Robin Hood Marathon & Half Marathon – Sunday 28th September 2014

Kenny Campbell and I made the long journey south to Nottingham for the combined marathon and half marathon races. Both races started together at the same time.

The route for both races was through the city of Nottingham. Despite the race being advertised as a flat road race, there were a few unexpected inclines to contend with and also some sharp turns to negotiate. The terrain was mostly on roads and paths but there were also some trail sections through a park and the finish was over grass. The conditions started off ideal, with no wind, but the sun soon came out and the temperature rose to over 20 degrees by midday.

Out of nearly 1500 competitors in the marathon, Kenny finished 4^th overall in a new personal best time of 2.38.05.

In the half marathon, which was the larger of the two races with over 7,200 competitors, I finished 487^th overall in a time of 1.34.54 which was also a new personal best time.
