CRC had a successful day out in Islay for the 29th Islay Half Marthon on Saturday 1st August. There were 9 members making the short ferry trip across from Kennacraig to Islay. The forecast for the weather was for heavy rain and wind...it was 50% correct and thankfully runners and spectators were kept dry. The wind was tough for the first half of the race, but thankfully the final 6 miles were in the runners favour.

There were some podium finishes with Stuart McGeachy finishing first overall in 1:18:35. Alisdair O'May finished 6th Veteran mail in 1:30:50, which was a PB for Elgy boy. CRC also finished with second overall male team which included Stuart McGeachy, Alisdair O'May, Ewan Smith and James McEachran.

All the team!

An amazing Ardbeg whisky prize from the organisers!

Unfortunately the race results and timings haven't been published yet, however there were some standout runs from Jocelyn Richard, Margaret Sinclair, Kenny Ralston and Iona McIntosh, who managed to knock off a few minutes from last years time and had a storming sprint finish beating another runner.

The report will be updated soon with official timings soon.
