On 20 September the Lord of the Isles Challenge took place on the Isle of Islay. Margaret Sinclair and Sarah McFadzean took part in the marathon which began at Port na Haven and finished at Port Ellen. The race was an early start at 7:30am, runners walked up to the start with the bagpipes accompanying us and set off as the sun was rising. The route is mildly undulating in the first half and more challenging in the second half, however plenty marshals and supporters were on route to encourage you along. Finishers were cheered and welcomed at the end with home made soups sandwiches and cakes. All runners received a miniature whiskey and a memento made by the pupils of Islay high school. Highly recommended.
