MOK Run 2018

Post date: Jun 18, 2018 12:56:20 PM

It was another glorious day for MOK run 2018 with clear blue skies and sunshine for one of Campbeltown's flagship events. Temperatures were soaring, but there was a strong easterly wind to cool runners down in certain sections of the races....it also made it bloody challenging! There were 544 runners competing in the 10K and 212 in the half marathon, which is incredible to think how far the event has come over the last 10+ years. A credit to the organisers for putting on such an amazing event.

Once again CRC had a profitable day with a number of podium finishes. In the 10K, Garry Muir had a storming run finishing third, and first local, behind winner Matthew Turner and second place Colin Reilly in 35:21. An outstanding run from one of the most improved runners at the club this year, and held off a strong battle with fellow CRC team mate Drew Dutton, who had a good race and finished fourth in 36:09.

There was even better news in female section with Jennifer Martin finishing first female and first local in a great time of 40:20. The win completes the double for Jennifer after winning the half marathon the previous year. Success in the female section continued with Hazel Barr finished an impressive third in 45:03.

In the half marathon Stuart McGeachy repeated last years achivement by finishing third, and first local, in 1:21:49. The one and only Ralphy Hill finished as first Super Vet in 1:42:10, which was a great time given the windy conditions. Ever consistent Jennifer Reid finished as first female local in the half marathon 1:39:33, just being edged out a third place overall.

A special thanks goes again to the MOK run organisers for putting on such a great race. Roll on 2019!
