Transition times between legs are critical and lots of gains are to be made during the cycle section as this is the longest of the 3 parts. The 21km route up to Ballochgair Forestry, marshalled by Campbeltowns Young Fire Fighters, is hilly with exhausting climbs and exhilirating descents. Local Vet and CRC member Dom Sharkey showed his continued dominance in the local cycling scene with a blistering time of 37:18. In the ladies race Jennifer Matin also of CRC returned in 49:32. The winner of the team bike leg also had an exceptional time of 39:10 by local teacher James Murdoch of "Team Irwin". Through T2 and with a few tired bodies and faces to match; it was out for the 5km run along the Campbeltown sea front and Kilkerran Road.

After coming off the bike, competitors legs don’t react easily to the change of use and jelly legs were evident as runners tried to get into their stride. In despite of this some of the athletes defied their bodies’ aches to put in brilliant splits. Fastest time of the day went to CRC runner Stuart McGeachy as part of "The Deer Whistlers" coming home in 17:02. in the individual races Jennifer Martin was again first home in 21:56 and David Carey of Mid Argyll Triathlon&CC in 18:59Transition times between legs, when you have to rack bikes and change footwear, are equally important in determining the winner and can be the difference between the podium and not.
