Scottish National XC Championship 2016

A bright sunny day with little wind and stable underfoot conditions...not a sentence I would normally use to describe the race conditions for Scottish National Cross Country championships in February!! However, that's exactly what we got yesterday which made the event more pleasant for runners and spectators alike. Scottish Athletics reported their highest number of entrants for the events and it was good to see a number of CRC members running in their respective age groups.

Gregor and Cameron Campbell were competing in the junior events running for their primary club Shettleston. Once again the Campbell brothers excelled with impressive times and positions, underlining their massive potential and talent. In the under 13's boys Gregor finished an impressive 15th place in 12:54, which contained a field of 155. Cameron was running in the Under 15's section and finished in 28th place in 15:28, which contained a field of 136. This was a tough year for Cameron as it's a jump up in age group he would have been one of the younger runners in this section, however you wouldn't have noticed given his excellent position against older boys.

Jennifer Reid was competing in the senior womans section and is now running for her primary club Ronhill Cambuslang. Jennifer once again produced a top performance finishing in 87th position out of a field of 284 runners in 37:04.

The male senior section had Stuart McGeachy and Tommy Morran running for CRC with Kenny Campbell running for his Primary club Ronhill Cambuslang. All three produced good positions and time with Kenny finishing in 49th in 44:39, Stuart finishing in 84th in 46:31 and Tommy in 324th in 53:26.

All the runners would like to thank Donald Campbell and Graham Crawford for providing support on the sidelines for each race, as it definitely helped having the support. Very much appreciated.
