The Scottish XC Nationals took place at Callendar Park, Falkirk on Sunday 22nd February with seven CRC members competing in some of the events. Conditions were tough due to strong winds and underfoot wasn't much better with heavy rain turning the course into a muddy bog....ideal for XC!

Cameron Campbell was the star of the show again for Campbeltown Running club by finishing second in the Under 13's boys 2 mile race with an incredible time of 11:14, which was only 5 seconds off winner Hamish Armitt. Cameron improved on his fourth overall position for the West District XC in December and give a good boost leading into the School XC event in Ayr which takes place on Saturday 7th March. Cameron will be competing an an older age group of under 14 runners and will be a good test after the success of last weekend. Good luck to Cameron and all CRC juniors competing this weekend.

There were also six other CRC members competing in the 7.5 mile male senior event. By the time this race started the course was completely cut up from all the previous races so it made for challenging underfoot conditions for male senior event! Once again Kenny Campbell produced the best time for the male seniors finishing in 54th position in 43:26. It was an impressive run by Kenny and the first time he had competed in the Scottish XC nationals. It was also the first time CRC had a full six man team competing and managed to finish 28th overall out of 34 teams.

Below are the full time for all the male seniors:

Kenny Campbell 54th in 43:26

Stuart McGeachy 182nd in 47:39

Daniel Sheldrick 233rd in 49:08

Tommy Morran 365th in 53:07

Charlie Dott 406th in 54:41

Iain McKinnon 50th 60:22
