Skye Half Marathon 2016

Last weekend three CRC members went ‘over the sea to Skye’ to participate in the Sky half marathon. Margaret Sinclair, Elaine McGeachy and Stuart McGeachy made the 6 hour journey up to Skye along with fellow toonie Kenny Ralston, who was competing in the run for the fifth time.

This popular race was awash with tourists from abroad and throughout the UK which brought a great atmosphere to the whole event. Although it looked a bit overcast with the sun trying to burst through the clouds, there was still a humid feel in the air which we’ve been accustomed to over the last few weeks with this spell of good weather.

There was over 650 runners participating in this ‘undulating’ route with CRC members producing some good times.

Stuart McGeachy finished 8th overall in 1:21:13. Kenny Ralston finished in 161st place in 1:46:22. Elaine McGeachy, who has struggled recently with injury, finished in 306th in 1:57:36. Margaret Sinclair finished in 442nd place in 2:07:13.

Although it was a tough, hilly route with some strong head wind sections, it was still a well organised with an excellent post race feed….hoot mair can ye ask for! Well worth entering and a beautiful area to go and visit.
