The Scottish Veteran Harriers Club trial for the British and Irish XC International took place at Tollcross park on Saturday 17th September. Jennifer Reid and Stuart McGeachy were competing in the trials to try and attain an automatic place for the SHVC team for the home international on the 12th November at Tollcross Park.

Jennifer was running in the female 40-44 age group and Stuart in the Male 35-39 category. Within Jennifer's section there are four females picked per team, with the first two automatically selected based on trial time and two others thereafter on known form. The same format applies to Stuart's section, however there are 6 places up for grabs with the first 3 automatically qualifying...simples!

The Females route was 6Km( 3x2k laps) and the males was 8Km (4x2K laps) of Tollcross park, which was undulating to say the least! The weather was perfect with no wind or rain and bright sunshine for the first cross country race of the season...unheard of!

Both runners produced strong performances with Jennifer finishing in 14th (4th in her category) in 24:58 and Stuart finished 12th (5th in category) in 28:15. Unfortunately both missed out on automatic selection, however it's still possible they could get picked on good form based on their positions on the race.
